SYNOPSIS

[EN] Varosha, located in the city of Famagusta in Northern Cyprus, was an important tourism center in the mid-20th century. However, due to the conflicts in Cyprus in 1974, all the people were forced to leave the region overnight. With the promise of returning... But they could never return to where they belonged. 46 years after the conflict, Varosha was opened to visitors like an open-air museum. People whose roots belong here were now forced to walk around like tourists. They were not allowed to enter their emptied homes as if they were works of art with ropes drawn in front of them. Accompanied by tourist guides, people started to swim in the sea from the shores of this Modern Pompeii, walking among the abandoned streets, buildings and vehicles that had not been used for years. As we wander around Varosha stuck in time, we come face to face with our repressed memories, the ghosts of the place and begin to feel the lost times stuck in the modern world. This abandoned city is not only a physical void, but also bears the traces of an emotional and cultural collapse.
