[EN] Prisoner of Love is a sober account of a young Palestinian man’s seemingly normal night in the refugee camp where he lives in Beirut. But behind his banal movements between his work, family home, friends at a cafe, walking in the camp and driving around Beirut, he holds the memories of a painful past and present. We discover that he works in the Palestinian Civil Defense, where he has on multiple occasions been a first respondent to bombing sites during the war. The martyrs and homes he has dealt with first hand accompany him in his everyday life. He seeks comfort in his conviction that this life is unjust, and in his mother who asks him to sing an “ibtihal” (spiritual chant).
