SYNOPSIS

[EN] This work explores different ways of time-telling in malls—specifically Queensway Shopping Centre, a strata-title development and one of the oldest malls in Singapore. The artist combines field recordings, found footage, and fly-on-the-wall clips to document time and space, examining our relationship with timekeeping and inviting reflection on cycles, change, and repetition. Bringing together field recordings, found footages, and fly-on-the-wall shooting, this video explores our relationship with timekeeping in the familiar yet complex environment of Queensway Shopping Centre. From stationary clocks to shutter closings and subtle movements, the piece weaves scenes that trace time’s passage without conventional markers. Juxtaposing imagery from different periods, the work evokes both fleeting and extended timescales. Set apart from the mall’s interior bustle, the viewing space invites a strange synchrony between video and ambient sound, and between change and repetition—prompting us to ask: is time moving on, or are we simply circling within it?
