[EN] The Destination is a poetic and experimental journey into the fragile ties between death, memory, and oblivion. Marked by the loss of his aunt, Iranian filmmaker Amirhossein BEIK embarks on an intimate path, shaped by his experience of exile and mourning, to question the way our societies deal with their dead. His voice wanders through the cemetery of Rennes, far from his homeland. In this space—both urban, intimate, and collective—the film The Destination and its team observe how completed lives continue to exist through material traces, objects, and stories told by those who keep the place alive. These perspectives reveal the unique role of the cemetery within the city and in the daily lives of the living. Guided by the filmmaker’s poetic and lucid voice, commenting on the images from the world of the living, the narrative sheds light on the contradictions of this singular place and of those who frequent it. In its depths, The Destination invites us to rethink the value we give to life—when observed from the end of the tunnel.
